Reviews and Press
We've had a string of accolades from top food journalists. Here is a pick:
The Independent described us as being one of the Top 50 Places to Eat for Under £50, describing the café as 'gloriously nourishing'.
The Spectator: '... the inside is surprising. At one end is the altar; at the other, a pod-like kitchen, made of honey-coloured English oak that curves organically through the stone arches. A large crucifix dangles from the roof, overlooking tables of shoppers busy spooning in soup. Contemporary in design, the café fits well into the mediaeval building. Most surprising of all, this unlikely combination feels entirely natural, a space where you can put down your bags and recuperate with a cappuccino, or shelter from the rain - or pray...'
The Independent on Sunday: 'When you walk past, the heavenly whiff is of rosemary foccacia coming from the remarkable All Saints Café... Unrepentantly modern in design, the café slots perfectly into the rest of the building, and the whole renovation has been short-listed for a RIBA award...Delicious, unpuritanical, well-sourced food.'
'The food ...more than lives up to its award winning surroundings' The Week
The Good Food Guide 2003 (a resolutely independent guide, reckoned by many as the best of all guides) said: ' … the setting may be unassuming but the kitchen has serious intentions, delivering lunchtime specials .. such as pasta with purple sprouting broccoli and garlic cream sauce, plus daily soups (butternut squash and lentil..) quiches and salads. ….. Organic tea, apple juice and cider as well as Chilean house wine..'
